Our Story

Rooter Hero Plumbing was founded in 2011, but our founder's story in this trade goes back much further. John Akhoian became a plumber at 17 years old, learning the business hands-on under a mentor before starting his first plumbing company at 19. He grew that business, sold it, and went on to build a second plumbing company into an award-winning, multi-location operation. In 2011, he started Rooter Hero, his third company, growing it from a single truck in Orange County into an operation serving communities across California, Nevada, and Arizona today.

Since then, we've grown into a privately held company of 350 employees, headquartered in Los Angeles, with a team of technicians serving homes and businesses across California, Nevada, and Arizona every day. Your Neighborhood is Our Neighborhood

Rooter Hero started with a single truck in Orange County, and growing our footprint one neighborhood at a time is still how we operate today. Rather than running a single call center dispatching trucks from far away, we operate locally staffed teams throughout Northern and Southern California, Arizona, and Nevada, so the technician who shows up at your door already knows the area, the common plumbing issues in older versus newer homes in your neighborhood, and the fastest way to get to you. That local presence is also why we can commit to reaching most calls within the hour: our trucks are already stationed close to where people need us, not routed in from across the region.

• Southern California: Rooter Hero operates in Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire, and San Diego County, plus the greater South Bay and San Gabriel Valley

Why Rooter Hero Exists

In essence, Rooter Hero is the ambulance service for homes. When a pipe bursts or a drain backs up at two in the morning, nobody wants a sales pitch, they want someone who shows up, tells them the truth, and gets it fixed. That idea, more than any business plan, is what Rooter Hero was built around.

Delivering that kind of service, fast, honest, and done right the first time, takes more than good intentions. It takes genuinely skilled plumbers, so Rooter Hero was built around finding, training, and keeping the best people in the trade. We invest heavily in ongoing training because a technician who truly knows their craft can diagnose the real problem instead of guessing, explain it clearly, and fix it correctly the first time instead of the third. Masterful service isn't an accident; it's the direct result of who we hire and how seriously we take their training.

That philosophy carries through to how we treat the people who call us. You're letting a stranger into your home, often at the worst possible moment, and we don't take that lightly. Our technicians are trained to treat every home the way they'd want their own home treated, to explain what they find in plain language instead of jargon, and to give you a straight answer. No games, no pressure, just an honest job done right.

Rooter Hero is licensed, bonded, and insured to operate across our California and Arizona service areas. Our current licenses are California 1156356 (residential work, performed under the joint-venture license), California 996688, California 829861, and Arizona ROC 275291.
