Clogged Toilet

This is one of the most common problems. If the water level is rising when you flush or the water doesn't drain properly, it's likely a clog. Do NOT force flush as it can overflow and flood the bathroom floors.

For temporary relief, use a plunger to try and dislodge the clog. If that doesn't work, you can try using a toilet auger, also known as a drain snake, to reach and dislodge the blockage. Running Toilet

If you hear water running in the tank continuously or at irregular intervals, you likely have a running toilet. This can waste a lot of water. Considering a drip per second adds up to 2,000 gallons of water through the year, a running toilet can cost you hundreds of dollars in wasted water.

Lift the tank lid and check the flapper at the bottom of the tank. It might be damaged, warped, or not sealing properly. Adjust or replace the flapper if needed. Also, check the chain or linkage connecting the flapper to the flush handle. Make sure it's not too loose or too tight.

Leaking Toilet

Not to be confused with a running toilet, a toilet leaking at the base is serious cause for concern. If you notice water pooling around the base of the toilet, there might be a leak.

First try to tighten the bolts securing the toilet to the floor. If the leak persists, you may need to replace the wax ring seal between the toilet flange and the base of the toilet. It's also a good idea to check the water supply line and the connection to ensure there are no leaks.

Wobbly Toilet

If sitting on your toilet feels like sitting on a rocking chair, then your toilet may not be sufficiently secured.

Try to tighten the bolts securing the toilet to the floor. You may also need to insert a shim into any gaps. If the wobbling persists, then you may need to replace the flange or the toilet installation may be damaged.
